The Indian team has been demoted from the fourth to the fifth position in the latest ICC Test rankings.

The team now holds 105 points in the updated ICC Test Championship ratings, which is headed by three-time one-day world champions Australia who have 129 points. Despite their historic Test wins in Australia and Pakistan, India have the smallest rise of the three because its famous home series win against Australia in March 2001 now falls outside the rating period, the ICC official website said today. However, the good news is that India can be at an all-time high of number two, if they beat Australia in the four-Test series in October this year. In other upsets in the list this year, South Africa have slipped from the second spot for the first time, and are now placed third. (PTI)
