Colombo: Sri Lanka wants to put behind the disappointment of last month's failed cricket Champions Trophy campaign and prove that it is capable to win away from home during the Pakistan tour, the team manager said today. "There is an image that Sri Lanka is not doing well away from home. We have to change that view and try and win the Tests," Sri Lanka's stand-in manager Brendon Kuruppu said before the team departed for Pakistan. Sri Lanka will join the hosts and Zimbabwe in the ongoing triangular one-day tournament before contesting two Test matches starting Oct 20. "The team has been shaping up well and everyone has been contributing. It was one match that we lost against England," Kuruppu said of the Champions Trophy loss. "I hope that we continue this form and try and do well in the tournament," he added. The former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, who scored a double hundred on debut, was appointed Sri Lanka's interim manager after Ajith Jayasekera's contract ended after more than three years. "It's a challenge for me. I'd look at it in a positive manner, and try to do my best and see if I can fit into his (Jayasekera's) shoes," Kuruppu said. Sri Lanka has had a good record in Tests in Pakistan, winning five of the 17 matches against the hosts' seven. It has won only one match out of the 11 matches played at home. (AP)
