Bridgetown: A 15-member West Indies squad has been announced for the one-day series against England and New Zealand beginning June 24. All-rounder Darren Sammy became the first St. Lucia cricketer chosen to the West Indies squad. The 20-year-old player had an impressive 2004 season in the first-class Carib Beer regional series. Carlton Baugh Jr., who has been the No. 2 wicketkeeper for the past year, received another chance to back up Ridley Jacobs. New kinds on the block Baugh and Sammy are the only players in the squad who did not appear in any of the recent home one-day internationals against England and Bangladesh. Fidel Edwards and Tino Best, who both impressed during the series against England at home, will lead the bowling attack. There was no place for experienced fast bowlers Corey Collymore and Mervyn Dillon, dropped after disappointing returns in the recent seven-match series against England. The Caribbean side plays each opponent three times with the top two teams meeting in the final at Lord's.
