Harare:
Zimbabwe has scrapped the two-Test series against Australia, resulting in the cancellation of the ICC tele-conference to resolve the crisis. However, the country will play three one-day internationals against the Aussies in Harare on May 25, 27 and 29. Television commentator and former Test player Dean Jones told reporters the Test series had been cancelled after interviewing Cricket Australia's head of operations Michael Brown. The Australian management agreed to stay for the ODIs after meeting Zimbabwe Cricket Union chairman Peter Chingoka and chief executive Vincent Hogg. The ICC had been deliberating whether to strip the matches of Test status in view of the ongoing crisis in Zimbabwean cricket. Zimbabwe cricket has been ripped apart by a strike by 15 senior players protesting against the Zimbabwe Cricket Union's selection policies, the make-up of the selection panel and the decision not to reinstate deposed captain Heath Streak.Topics mentioned in this article
