Retired cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar refused to give out details of an autobiography he is currently writing, saying he wants to maintain silence so as to not affect the release of the book. He disclosed during a corporate event on Wednesday that the work on the autobiography had already started. "The work on it has started. If I give out the details of it, then who will read it? When the time is appropriate, I will let you know (more about it)," Sachin said during the event.

Tendulkar, who retired from all forms of cricket last year amid huge reception from fans while playing his 200th Test match against the West Indies, said that writing was definitely not an easy job as it required a lot of practice and hard work. "Writing, much like batting, needs ample practice, the right technique and execution," he said.

Judging by the Master Blaster's recent comments about how writing letters to his wife Anjali during his cricket career had been more difficult than batting, his family life including his son Arjun and daughter Sara, is expected to feature prominently in the book.

"When I started playing cricket, there were no mobile phones. So writing letters to my parents and later on to my wife Anjali became one of the ways to stay connected with near and dear ones. Hitting a cricket ball came naturally to me. But, while writing letters to Anjali, I have to doubly check what I was writing," Tendulkar had said without holding back.

Tendulkar's father held considerable clout among Marathi writers in his time and the former Indian captain now wants his children to develop the same passion for writing. "Anjali and me would allow both Sara and Arjun to scribble on the walls when they were young," Sachin added.
