Just a couple of days after the England and Wales Cricket Board omitted Kevin Pietersen from two of its upcoming tournaments and virtually ended his international career, pop-star wife Jessica Taylor took to Twitter to rubbish claims that her husband was sacked due to a fight with skipper Alastair Cook during the Ashes Test in Sydney. She went on to request the media not to write stories based on rumours and that the public deserved to know the truth. (Pietersen a maverick England couldn't manage: Vaughan)

As reported by Sky Sports, Cork said he wasn't surprised by the sacking and that Pietersen was "England's most destructive player on and off the pitch, always carrying a lot of baggage with him."

"But what I'm hearing is there was an altercation between himself and Alastair Cook. I heard there was nearly a dust-up, a fight in the Sydney Pavilion - you can't do that to a captain," Cork was quoted saying.
