Jamshedpur: Gujarat earned three points by virtue of first innings lead as host Jharkhand managed 166 for seven wickets and the match ended in a draw on the final day of the four-day Group A Ranji Trophy match at Keenan stadium here on Sunday.
Earlier, Gujarat made 352 for nine in reply Jharkhand's first innings score of 289.
Resuming at an overnight score of 28 for no loss, Jharkhand suffered a setback in the very first over of the morning losing overnight batsman and opener Rameez Nimat in the fifth delivery.
Nimat, who scored a brilliant 78 in the first innings, fell prey to medium pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the second time in the match.
Jharkhand wickets kept on tumbling in quick sucession with score reading 76 for seven at one stage.
Bhavin Thakker, who was retired hurt at 2 overnight, took to the crease and partnered in-form middle-order southpaw Saurav Tiwary, who stepped in at the fall of skipper Shahbaz Naddem's wicket, to rescue the team to a respectable score. Both score unbeaten fifties sharing an unbroken partnersip of 90 runs for the eighth wicket when stumps were drawn.
Jharkhand lost three wickets in the form of Ishank Jaggi, Pappu Singh and Nadeem for a duck while two other batsmen failed to reach double figures.
For Gujarat, Bumrah emerged as the highest wicket taker with three for 27 while Akshar patel and R Dhruv shared two wickets apiece.
