Sourav Ganguly's chances of returning to the Indian squad might have been thwarted by his disappointing display in the Duleep Trophy finals, but the former skipper has a second chance to stake a claim in the side with a new stint as Bengal captain. The Prince of Kolkata, on his part, is making no secret of just how much he wants to be back in the squad. The man fondly referred to as dada has made it clear that he will grab any opportunity that's given to him with both hands. "I will play in any position," Ganguly said. Depending on the way he performs in the first Ranji Trophy game against Maharashtra that starts on 23 November, there is a chance that Ganguly might return to the Indian team for the Test series against Sri Lanka. And if he does make it to the team, he'll almost surely play under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid, something the Kolkata native has said he will be more than happy to do. It has been a tough few days out in the cold for Sourav Ganguly. Yet, his one time critic Ranbir Singh Mahendra has come out in his support, saying Sourav will be around for World Cup 2007. With a new Ranji season around the corner though, the former Indian skipper is going to need more than just kind words and a lot of willow talk.
