Kolkata:
Whenever there is a cricket match, tickets sell like hotcakes from the counters of Eden Gardens. But as the countdown begins for the fourth ODI between India and South Africa on Friday, Kolkata seems determined to express its displeasure at Sourav's absence from Team India. And this time around, ticket sales haven't quite taken off in this cricket crazy city. "Without Sourav, the excitement has not reached the height, which we are used to see at Eden Gardens. Without Sourav, the Kolkatans are not that eager to go to Eden Gardens," says Farhaz Ahamed, Sourav fan. Kolkata's love for cricket is legendary. But just days ahead of the match between India and South Africa, it seems the city loves Sourav more than cricket. 'No Sourav, no cricket' While the officials are waiting for a last minute rush for tickets, a section of Sourav's fan brigade has hit the streets with the slogan, "No Sourav, no cricket". But the man himself believes that the show must go on. "That's not going to happen. And I am sure that when India turns up to play South Africa at the Eden Gardens, you will see 1,00,000 people watching," says Sourav Ganguly, Captain, Bengal Ranji Team. And at a time like this, words of encouragement poured in from former captain Kapil Dev. "I think, there is no politics. He just has to get more and more runs and he will be back. Look at Mohinder Amarnath, how many times he went out and came back," says Kapil. While he will be missing in action at Eden on Friday, Sourav will remain the talking point both on and off the field.Topics mentioned in this article
