India A suffered a 121-run defeat against South Africa A in the second four-day unofficial 'Test' that ended in Pretoria on Tuesday. The two-match series thus finished 1-1 with India winning the first by an innings and 13 runs last week in Rustenburg.
On Monday, India A were set a stiff target of scoring 307 runs to win after South Africa A declared their second innings at 166 for five. At stumps, India A were three for one from the four overs they faced in their second innings.
But on Day 4 on Tuesday, the Indian top-order collapsed as they lost half their side for just 18 runs. A 160-run sixth wicket stand between Ajinkya Rahane (86) and Wriddhiman Saha (77 not out) lifted the visitors but paceman Beuran Hendriks broke the partnership and swung the game in favour of the South Africans.
Hendriks finished with six for 27 as India were all out for 185 in a match where the visitors' batting collapsed twice in three days.
Brief scores: South Africa A 341 and 166/5 declared. India 201 and 185. SA A won by 121 runs. Series ends 1-1.
