Mumbai:Neeraj Patel has been making a name for himself on India's domestic cricket circuit. The 24-year old from Ahmedabad had a bright start to his international career, starring in India's U-19 World Cup win in 2000. Now almost five years later, he's announced his intentions for the world stage with a sensational season. Top run maker He piled up over 1300 runs in the domestic season, with 735 of them coming in the Ranji Trophy, making him the top run maker in the country. He says his approach is to play the game his team needs. "My game plan is to go out and take a look at the playing conditions, the bowling and the wicket. Once I am set, I see the situation and how the game is placed and play accordingly," said Patel. Neeraj played in the Challenger Trophy this year for the Indian Seniors, finishing with an average of 41.50 from the three games. Performance recognized This performance was obviously recognized when he was selected to play the touring Pakistani team in both their tour games. He says the experience has added to his confidence and he's ready to take his game to the next stage. "It is great to get some opportunities at any level and it is also motivation to keep performing. So, I want to keep playing my top game and try keep getting selected at every stage," the batsman said. Neeraj Patel plans to work hard at the nets through the summer whether it's at camps or by himself and make a claim for a place in a new look Indian side.
