Southern Champs Jain University Bangalore will play Western Wizards Jiwaji University Gwalior in a Group A encounter at the picturesque M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
While the Jiwaji boys will have their first outing in the tournament, Jain University have already given a huge statement in their first match with a massive 130-run win over Eastern Eagles (VBS University).
It is well-known now that the Southern Champs' team was the winner of the Rohinton Baria Trophy 2012-13 and led ably by the in-form skipper Kaunain Abbas, they are a formidable unit. Abbas also scored the first century of the UCC, scoring 128 off 65 balls studded with 8 massive hits over the fence.
Jiwaji University on the other hand, are led by Sohraab Dhaliwal, who with his handlebar moustache would be looking to bring in the same aggression. In the Rohinton Baria, Jiwaji boys made it to the semi-final losing out to Jain University eventually. They were infact thrashed by the Bangalore boys by 8 wickets then.
Dhaliwal, Western Wizards' skipper, is an impressive all-rounder while Kaunain Abbas, Champs' skipper is a big power-hitter. Bharat Anant will be another player that Jiwaji will look up to while Gaurav Goel, with a fifty in the first match for Jain University will be looking to impress once again.
Bangalore bowlers Prabhakar Rajendra and Shashindra too will be upbeat after dominating performance in the first match. Pawan Dhakad and Rajesh Tomer will be the bowlers to watch out from Jiwaji University.
It will be an interesting battle of one-upmanship with a determined Jiwaji unit trying to avenge the Rohinton semi-final loss. Jain University will be looking to emulate their inter-university success though.
