New Delhi:  NDTV Group believes in supporting social causes and encourages efforts to making a difference. As an extension of this core belief, we are excited to launch University Premiere League (UPL) in FEB 2013. Designed in a Twenty-20 format, UPL will reach more than 200 Universities and 20 lakh students across India. Our organization has joined hands with the Association of Indian Universities & HRD Ministry to strengthen and promote this tournament.

UPL will be an extension of the Rohington Baria Tournament. The top 8 teams from Rohington Baria will play in the UPL. Matches will be held in various cities duplicating the IPL concept of home and away games. The Semi Finals & finals will be played at various University grounds/International stadiums in New Delhi, Mumbai or other home cities of the teams. Before the tournament begins, each of the 8 teams will have their own "star" mentors such as Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, while a player such as Sachin Tendulkar will be the Brand Ambassador. Man of Match and Man of the Series get cash rewards in the tournament.

The tournament begins 2nd week of February and ends by the month end. A total of 16 matches will be played. UPL will be broadcasted on all 4 NDTV channels live along with one of the top sports channels in India such as Star Cricket or Ten Sports or Neo Sports.

The matches will be followed by a carnival with musical performances, great food, spectator competitions, etc. Our aim is to attract college students to the main event, especially the age group of 17-21.

The AIM is to create a first of its kind, quality live programming targeting strictly college kids and to bring about a REVOLUTION in searching for India's next cricketing champions.
