Pakistan's former Test batsman and interim coach Mohsin Khan claims he is not running after the position of head coach in the national team but is keen to serve country's cricket in some capacity.
"I am always ready to serve Pakistan cricket in any capacity. But yes having worked as interim coach with the national team players I feel I can continue doing justice as head coach," Mohsin said in an interview.
He also rebutted criticism he was unfit for the coaching position and had tried to blackmail the Pakistan Cricket Board into retaining him as coach for the England series after Pakistan won against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
"That is not true. I know there are people who are critical about everything I do. But I have learnt to ignore them and just focus on my job. I have never tried to blackmail the Board into retaining me as head coach on permanent basis," he said.
"I have committed no crime by saying that I would like to continue as head coach. But it is not my decision, it is for the Board to decide. Whatever assignment they offer me, I am ready for the challenge. But I don't think it is a crime for me to have some job preferences," he said.
Mohsin, who also worked as a chief selector before being appointed interim coach after the resignation of c in September, said he had always tried to be honest and committed to whatever job was given to him.
"I accepted the position of chief selector at a time when Pakistan cricket was in a crisis and I tried to do my best. Anyone can make mistakes but they were never intentional.
"I think when I look back at my work as selector I am satisfied because of the chances we gave to new talent and the confidence we gave to senior players."
