Nimbus, the now terminated official broadcasters of international and domestic matches played in India, is learnt to have asked Board of Control for Cricket in India for a grace period for payments it owed the Indian board.
In a letter addressed to BCCI president N Srinivasan by Harish Thawani, the Executive Chairman of Nimbus Sports, the company requested that it be provided 45 days to make payments of Rs 740,875,000 either on or before 20th December 2011. The letter, a copy of which is available with NDTV, was dated November 21.
Thawani on behalf of Nimbus wrote that trouble in economy and advertising industry has affected its licensee broadcasters in India and across the world.
The letter further blamed public apathy due to the 'amount of cricket being played which hasn't helped matters.
BCCI on Monday, terminated the contract of Nimbus.
