Yuvraj Singh was not picked for the Test series against Australia when the squad was announced on Saturday. His mother, Shabnam Singh, told NDTV a day later that her son is on medication for lung infection but he hopes to be back for the ODI series.

Yuvraj has been out of the national side since the England tour earlier this year and recent reports confirmed that the south-paw had asked the BCCI not to consider him for selection. His family has called an "illness that threatened his career," caused by an "abnormal tumour" on his lung. Shabnam confirmed the news to NDTV on Sunday. "He (Yuvraj) is on medication and therapy for his lung infection," she said. "Yuvraj is hoping to be back for the ODI series."
Yuvraj returned mid-way from the tour of England and has since missed the Test series against West Indies at home. He reportedly asked the Board not to be considered for the ODI series beginning from November 29 at Cuttack.
Yuvraj's mother also said in a statement that Yuvraj had been troubled by bouts of coughing and vomitting during the 2011 World Cup but had ignored the problem during the tournament, "assuming it was due to stress."
