Islamabad: Pakistan's interior minister says he will urge Shahid Afridi to reverse his retirement decision.
Rehman Malik tweeted on Thursday that "I will do whatever I can to resolve this issue, as I am equally a fan of Afridi."
Afridi criticised the top leadership of Pakistan Cricket Board earlier this week and quit international cricket in protest. However, he said he could return if the present setup of the PCB is changed.
Last month, Malik convinced Zulqarnain Haider to end his exile in Britain after the wicketkeeper fled the team in November of 2010, citing death threats from match fixers.
The PCB has suspended Afridi's national team contract.
