Following are the statistical highlights of the first day's play between India and South Africa in the third Test in Cape Town.
# Sachin Tendulkar has become the first player to appear in 25 Tests in India-South Africa games.
# Jacques Kallis has extended his tally for the highest run-aggregate in the present series - 309 at an average of 154.50, including one century and one fifty.
# Kallis has also extended his run-aggregate against India to 1396 at an average of 66.47 in 16 Tests - the highest for South Africa against India.
# Kallis' present performance is his best in a Test series against India, bettering the 241 (ave.80.33) in four innings in India in 2004-05.
# Kallis has registered his third fifty-plus in successive Tests at Newlands, Cape Town - 102 against Australia in March 2009 and 108 & 46 against England in January 2010 and 81 not out against India on January 2, 2011.
# Kallis has become the first South African to register 55 fifties in Tests, joining Allan Border (63), Sachin Tendulkar (59), Rahul Dravid (59), Ricky Ponting (56) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (55).   
# Hashim Amla (59) has posted his fourth fifty against India - his 19th in Tests.
# In twelve Tests against India, Amla has averaged 64.55 - 1162 in twenty innings, including five hundreds.
# Amla's second fifty against India at Newlands, Cape Town is his fourth fifty-plus score at this venue - the top three being the 149 against New Zealand in April 2006, 95 against England last year and 63 against India four years ago.
# Graeme Smith (6) has been dismissed by Zaheer Khan six times in Tests.  The only other bowler to capture Smith's wicket five times is New Zealand's Chris Martin.
# Four bowlers have claimed Smith's wicket five times - Sreesanth, Glenn McGrath, Andrew Flintoff and James Anderson
# Smith is averaging 35.09 (772 in 13 Tests) against India as against his overall average of 49.85.
# Smith has averaged 28.50 in the present series against India - 114 in four innings, including one fifty.
# Alviro Petersen is averaging 44.83 - 269 in six innings at a strike rate of  58.47 in four Tests - against India
# Petersen's catch is Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 75th as captain in Tests
# Amla and Kallis have shared a stand of 72 for the third wicket - South Africa's joint second highest against India at Newlands, Cape Town - the highest being the 114 between Gary Kirsten and Daryll Cullinan in January 1997.
# Abraham de Villiers (26) has taken his run-aggregate against India to 188 (ave.47.00) in four innings in the present series.
# De Villiers averages in the previous two series were 165.00 (330 in six innings) against West Indies in 2010 and 154.00 (308 in three innings) against Pakistan in 2010-11.
# Despite his low scores (0, 33 & 26) in his last three innings against India at number five, de Villiers is averaging 73.60 at this position - 1472 in 27 innings, including six hundreds and five fifties.
