Margao:slapping fast bowler S Sreesanth after their Indian Premier League (IPL) match in 2008.
Harbhajan, who was leading Mumbai Indians in their match against Kings XI Punjab in the first edition of the T20 league, slapped after triumphant Punjab players were shaking hands with the Mumbai players.
Speaking exclusively to NDTV on one of the ugliest incidents in the Indian cricket, Bhajji said: "I'm sorry for what happened. And I just want to put it behind me."
"I've always maintained that the slap is the one thing I regret the most. But I've kept my promise of behaving myself," he added.
Sreesanth, too, seems to have moved on. "We are like family and fights always happen in the family. He's like my older brother," he said.
The temperamental bowler from Kerala also expressed disappointment on the way his career has progressed so far. "I'm disappointed I haven't done better. But my career has been hampered. I just want to focus now on keeping fit," he said.
Harbhajan, on the other hand, said he was unaffected by the criticism. "I don't play to prove anybody wrong so critics don't bother me," he said.
"The biggest thing for me in my career would be to win the World Cup," he added.
