Kolkata:Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday appointed Venky Mysore as their new Chief Executive Officer and the Managing Director.
Announcing the appointment, KKR principal owner Shah Rukh Khan said, "I feel that the time has come to take the KKR franchise to the next level and work towards globalising the sport and professionalising the franchise."
"The experience and skill that Venky brings will help us work towards our vision for building a world class franchise," Shah Rukh said in a statement.
Having played university cricket, Mysore would bring in his passion for the sport apart from professional experience he had, franchise co-owner Jay Mehta said.
Thrilled at his new role, Mysore said, "KKR has demonstrated the passion for the game, strong commitment to the sport-loving community and a desire to professionalise the franchise.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to building on the foundation that has been laid."
With over 25 years' experience in the financial services industry across several global markets, Mysore has held several senior positions in the United States, Canada and Asia being India's country head of Sun Life Financial, Canada.
KKR had finished sixth in the third edition of the eight-team competition earlier this year.
