Sachin Tendulkar (84) has posted his first fifty at Galle International Stadium.
Tendulkar's fifth half-century against Sri Lanka is his 55th in Tests.
Muttiah Muralitharan, with Yuvraj's wicket in the first innings, became the first bowler to take 100 wickets against India - 103 at an average of 32.57 in 22 Tests.
Muralitharan's 67th five-wicket haul is his seventh against India.
Having already captured 100 wickets against England (112) and South Africa (104), Muralitharan is the second bowler in the history of Test cricket to achieve the feat of bagging 100 wickets or more against three opponents.
Shane Warne was the first bowler to bag 100 wickets or more against three nations - 195 wickets against England, 130 against South Africa and 103 against New Zealand.
Sri Lanka have enforced a follow-on upon India for the second time - the first instance was at Colombo, SSC in 2008.
Virender Sehwag is fifth Indian player to register 20 centuries or more in Tests for India, joining Sachin Tendulkar (47), Sunil Gavaskar (34), Rahul Dravid (29) and Mohammad Azharuddin (22).
Sehwag has completed his 1000 runs against Sri Lanka - 1,031 at an average of 73.64 in 9 Tests. His aggregate includes four hundreds and two fifties.
Sehwag became the fifth Indian player to aggregate 1,000 runs against Sri Lanka, joining Sachin Tendulkar (1697), Rahul Dravid (1475), Mohammad Azharuddin (1215) and Sourav Ganguly (1064).
Sehwag has registered eleven hundreds at home and nine on foreign soil.
Sehwag has recorded centuries in three consecutive Tests for th first time - 109 at Nagpur and 165 at Kolkata - both against South Africa and 109 against Sri Lanka at Galle.
Sehwag averages 68.93 in the first team's innings and 31.21 in the second.
Laxman and Sehwag put on a fourth wicket stand of 68 - India's highest at Galle.
Dhoni and Yuvraj were associated in a sixth wicket partnership of 74 - India's highest at Galle.
Yuvraj's fifth half-century against Sri Lanka is his 9th in Tests.
Gautam Gambhir has posted his second duck in Tests - both against Sri Lanka
Having posted centuries in four previous Tests, Sachin has missed equalling Gautam Gambhir's feat of centuries in five successive Tests.
Rahul Dravid (9032) became the second batsman to complete 9,000 runs while batting at number three, joining Ricky Ponting (9453).
Dravid and Tendulkar were involved in a stand of 119 - India's highest for the third wicket at Galle,
Tendulkar has been associated in 75 stands of 100 or more in Tests, joining Rahul Dravid (82) and Ricky Ponting (78)
Tendulkar and Dravid have extended their world record for most 100-plus stands (18).
