The BCCI is likely to press criminal charges against suspended IPL Commissioner Modi in several cases of financial irregularity in the IPL, which could also be the first step towards a possible life ban.

The BCCI is holding a Special General Meeting in Mumbai at the board's quarters where all members are present.

However, sources in the board have indicated that Modi will not be axed on Saturday, as the BCCI is very keen to ensure the board follows its own rules. This should not seem like a case of personal vendetta by a few vested interests like the BCCI secretary N Srinivasan but reflective of the board's intention in general.

Timeline: Lalit Modi vs BCCI

The Disciplinary Committee to investigate the matter against Modi will be reconstituted after BCCI President Shashank Manohar recused himself from all proceedings against Modi.

The Disciplinary Committee, comprising of Chirayu Amin and Arun Jaitley, will have a third member who will be picked at the SGM.

All board's members will be informed in detail of Modi's wrongdoings including the IPL television rights deal with Sony, other financial irregularities and the plan to start a parallel cricket league in England.
