Karachi:The PCB chairman Ejaz Butt has accepted Aamer Sohail's resignation as director of the National Cricket Academy and also PCB's game development head.
Although it was expected that Butt would speak to Sohail and try to convince him to reconsider his decision, but the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman - himself a former cricketer -immediately accepted Sohail's resignation.
The board handed the charge of NCA director to another former cricketer Haroon Rasheed, who has in the past held important positions like national junior and senior team coach and national selector.
Butt refused to make any comment on Sohail's resignation. "There is no need to go into the details of this issue. He tendered his resignation and I accepted it," Butt said.
It is no secret that Sohail was not happy with the administrative culture in the board and frustrated that none of his plans were being approved by other senior officials, whom he blamed for misleading Butt as well.
Unlike former leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, who criticised the board chairman and other officials after resigning in June, Sohail has maintained silence so far.
"I think he is just waiting for his dues to be cleared by the PCB and then he will speak definitely on why he resigned," one source close to Sohail said.
Haroon Rasheed said he was excited by the challenge of his new assignment and would do his best to revive activities at the national academy.
Activities at the NCA have been suspended for the last few months since the board chairman had delayed approval of budget submitted by Sohail.
