New Delhi:
The three-day event will be a six-a-side tennis-ball tournament, exclusively for teams from the Walled City i.e. Chandni Chowk area. The matches will be held under the floodlights and will be part of GMR Sports plans to engage the city youth in sporting activities in the off-season.
The participating eight teams will be divided into two pools of four each, with the toppers from both the pools fighting for the trophy.
Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag and team members will make special appearances during the tournament to encourage the players.
Apart from the prize money, the players will also have a chance to get selected for the Delhi Daredevils Coaching Scheme, which will help them reach the next level.
"The Walled City is often seen as the heart and soul of Delhi. So, we thought what could be better than organising a tournament for the youth of this area. This will carry on the momentum of IPL and help us stay connected with the fans and youth in the city," Daredevils Chief Operating Office Amrit Mathur said in a statement.
