Chand who has just returned home after winning another tournament, the Under-23 Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup in Singapore said, "winning this tournament by beating Pakistan in the final was special."
However, Chand's highest score in the tournament was just 60 and the 20-year-old felt he did not convert the good starts he got into big scores.
The biggest criticism of Unmukt Chand ever since he came back as the captain of India's victorious Under-19 World Cup team has been his failure in the Indian Premier League. Chand averaged just 17 with a top score of 41 in 9 innings in the 2013 edition of the IPL for Delhi Daredevils. On being asked about his performance in the IPL, Chand said, "I always feel it is more about disappointing yourself rather others. I think I had a good domestic season before that and a good T20 tournament. IPL didn't turn out to be that good. It came out as a baptism of fire or something. That's just how it goes."
After winning the Under-19 World Cup, Chand acted in a television advertisement for a soft drink company with the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. The Delhiite said he was happy to meet MS Dhoni for the first time thanks to the experience.
Chand will be travelling to Vizag on Tuesday to join the India A team for 2 unofficial matches against the New Zealand A team. He will later captain India A in the 3 unofficial ODIs vs New Zealand with the likes of Robin Uthappa playing under him.
