New Delhi:
Sahaj Grover started playing chess at the tender age of four and has become a world champion within next five years. The youngest FIDE rated Indian chess player at one point, Sahaj has added another feather in his cap by becoming the Under-10 world champion last Wednesday. With this feat, he now joins the elite list of players including Vishwanathan Anand, P Harikrishna, Koneru Humpy and D Harika to win a gold in the world junior category. His most prized possession back home, is the gold medal and trophy he won at World Youth Championship in France last week. P Harikrishna was the last Indian to win the Under-10 world title. Need for sponsors However, just like his friend and Delhi mate Parimarjan Negi, Sahaj too needs financial support in the form of sponsors. The Delhi Chess Association has found a local builder to provide some of the funding, but of course, the need is for a full time coach. Meanwhile in France, N Srinath won the Under-12 title, but there were disappointing results from Parimangjan Negi and Harika Dronavalli, who finished much lower than expected.Topics mentioned in this article
