London:
Commonwealth lightweight champion Khan believes Jorge Rubio is the right cornerman to help him in the next phase of his professional career even though the bulk of the now Miami-based Cuban's experience has been in amateur boxing.
Khan, 21, split with his former trainer Oliver Harrison earlier this year.
"I'm delighted that Jorge is now my trainer and I look forward to working with him towards winning the world title," said Khan, who is due to defend his title in September.
"I met with a lot of trainers when I was in America and had plenty of training sessions with everyone and they were happy to come and work with me in Bolton (Khan's hometown in north-west England).
"But I was impressed most by Jorge and his set up and more importantly I felt comfortable working with him and his training methods will give me a new dimension," he added.
Rubio, who has worked with British cruiserweight world champion David Haye, said: "It's fantastic to be given the opportunity to work with such a natural talent like Amir and I believe that I can bring the best out in him.
"I'm really impressed by what I've seen of him so far and I know that we still have a lot of work to do."
During his time in amateur boxing Rubio helped compatriot Mario Kindelan who four years ago beat Khan in the Olympic final. He is also the current coach of featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa, a gold medallist in Athens, who is so far unbeaten as a professional.
