India's Sania Mirza and Horia Tecau of Romania came out second best against Daniel Nestor of Canada and Kristina Mladenovic of France in the final of the Australian Open mixed doubles event. All images courtesy AFP.
Nestor and Mladenovic defeated Sania-Horia 6-3, 6-2.
Nestor and Mladenovic, who won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title last year, fended off all five break points they faced and broke the Mirza-Tecau combination four times in the 58-minute match.
Sania and Horia had played excellent tennis together during the course of the tournament but could not fend off their final opponents.
Sania also featured in the doubles category but had crashed out early.
A runners up title in the mixed doubles category though would also bring a lot of smiles to her fans all over.
