Melbourne: Juan Martin del Potro beat Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 at Melbourne Park on Sunday to advance to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal since his 2009 U.S. Open win.
Del Potro, the 11th seed from Argentina, has only dropped one set en route to reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open for the second time. He also made the quarters in 2009.
Del Potro, who was sidelined for much of 2010 after undergoing wrist surgery, improved his ranking from a low of No. 485 last January to his current position at No. 11.
