Anju in long jump finals at Helsinki
Athlete Anju Bobby George has qualified for the long jump final in the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki.

Athlete Anju Bobby George has qualified for the long jump final in the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki. Her best jump during the qualifying rounds was a personal season's best of 6.54m. But the best jump in the qualifying session came from American Tianna Madison with a distance of 6.83m. The long jump final will be held tomorrow. Anju will be defending the bronze medal she won at the world championships in Paris two years ago. The win made Anju the first Indian woman to win a world championship medal. She is currently ranked fifth in the world. The other Indians, discus throwers - Neelam Jaswant Singh and Vikas Gowda failed to qualify for the finals.Topics mentioned in this article
