Indian juniors clinch medals at Asian meet
Indian junior athletes made it big on the second day of the Asian junior athletic championships at Bangkok, winning a gold, a silver and two bronzes.

Indian junior athletes made it big on the second day of the Asian junior athletic championships at Bangkok, winning a gold, a silver and two bronzes. India bagged both the gold and bronze medals in the women's 400m event, with Geetha Sathi coming first in 54.03 seconds, ahead of Japan's Asami Tanno (54.72s). Bindu Rani finished in 54.85 seconds to claim the bronze. India's other bronze medal came in the men's 400m from Sudam Marandi, who clocked 47.83s. The gold went to Japan's Yuki Yamaguchi (47.11s) and the silver to Manoj P W Pushpakumara (47.38s) of Sri Lanka. Suman Devi fetched the silver for India in javelin throw for women, with a clearance of 52.33-metre behind Chinese Aihua Gerg's 54.50m and ahead of Japan's Ayko Yamazaki, who measured 48.89m. Another impressive performance from an Indian came from young Sinimol Poulose, who narrowly missed a medal, finishing fourth in the women's 1500m event. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
