Ten Indians figure in IAAF rankings

Asian Games gold medallist Anju Bobby George has been ranked among the top 20 long jumpers in the world by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Some fine displays in the recent past including winning a bronze medal in the Manchester Commonwealth Games has earned her the 18th rank by the IAAF. Amongst other Indians, discus thrower Neelam J Singh has been ranked 18th in her event, while J J Shobha has been ranked 20th in heptathlon. Soma Biswas (heptathlon) is in the 25th position while K M Beenamol (400m) gets a rank of 35. Saraswati Saha (200m, rank 43), Bobby Aloysius (high jump, rank 41), Bahadur Singh (shot put, rank 39), Shakti Singh (shot put, rank 48) and Harwant Kaur (discus throw, rank 27) were the other Indians to feature in the top 50 of the IAAF ranking list.
