New Delhi: Rajya Sabha members on Monday congratulated cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli for their performance in the Asia Cup tournament.
Raising the issue in the zero hour, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Tarun Vijay congratulated Sachin Tendulkar for scoring his hundredth ton in the match against Bangladesh in the ongoing Asian Cup tournament in Dhaka on Friday.
He even took a jibe at government saying Tendulkar's ton brought hope to a nation left disappointed by the general budget, which was also presented on Friday.
Deputy leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha S. S. Ahluwalia joined the BJP leader and congratulated Virat Kohli for his performance in the match against Pakistan on Sunday, where he scored 183 runs.
"By scoring 183 runs to defeat Pakistan, Kohli has made the nation proud," Ahluwalia said.
Opposition members were joined by treasury benches in congratulating the cricketers, who forwarded their support by thumping their desks.
